Security

This application been digitally signed with a unique Developer ID issued by Apple. The app has also been submitted for checking by Apple’s “Notarization” service and a notarization certificate is attached.

Gatekeeper in Mac OS protects you from inadvertently installing malicious software. It uses the Developer ID to identify the source of software you install, verifying (1) that the developer is in good standing, and (2) that the software itself has not been tampered with by some other party.

Mac OS 10.15 Catalina takes this one step further. It uses the notarization certificate to provide you assurance that Apple has scanned the app for malicious code and found it to be free of any such problems.

The app is also “sandboxed”, meaning that it runs in a protected, fenced-off area all its own. This provides another layer of security by preventing the program from doing anything harmful to your system.

Privacy

This application connects to data servers via the Internet to download the information it displays. Information transfer is strictly one way. Absolutely nothing about you, and no data from your computer is ever transmitted back to the servers.

Feedback

This app continues to be under development as I improve its implementation and add new capabilities. I also want to track down and correct problems that may come up. So please let me know if you encounter any difficulties or if you spot any misbehaviors in the program. General comments and recommendations are also welcome.
